Edit: According to wrestling historian and WWE commentator Patric Laprade, Jim Neidhart has died.

Ugh, that just sucks. What a horrid, evil disease.
Stay tough, Anvil.

I know from personal experience how devastating it can be. I just hope all his loved ones are there in full support of him.

Did they want this knowledge out there? I would of thought nattie would of shared it. It seems not. That whole Insta post?? Whatever you call it, is clunky as hell and doesn’t make sense.

I love pro wrestling and have watched it for more than twenty years, but stuff like this makes me question if it should still exist.
Jim Neidhart is only sixthy three and has Alzheimer's, the fact that Nowinsky is commenting about it makes me think that it has something to do with concussions.
The human body isn't supposed to bump, and The Anvil started wrestling in 79 he apparently retired in 2013, the hell his body went through.

That sucks at every level. My grandma is having problems similar to Alzheimer's recently (although closer to dementia than Alzheimer's) but I hope they're getting all the help and support they can.

With respect, I don't know the etiquette involved here, is it cool to just...go there about people's families in a random instagram post? Kinda feels like that's not Nowinksi's place talk about Jim's illness.

Just lost my grandfather to Alzheimer’s in May. His slow decline was quite possibly the saddest thing I have ever witnessed personally. My thoughts are with Nattie, it is an extremely helpless situation.

Poor Jim, that's awful. Some diseases you can at least fight against, but not this one.
All good wishes to the Neidhart family.

Kinda feels like that's not Nowinksi's place talk about Jim's illness. I don't see where Nattie shared this publicly. I could understand why she would share it with friends and colleagues from work and with someone who works with wrestling and studies CTE and the brain. Perhaps Nowinski thought that her sharing her story with him and others within her life meant that she was going public with it. Perhaps it's something that she is going public with, but in conjunction with Total Divas and Nowinski got ahead of the story.

Damn Chris, I would think Nattie should be the one to announce something like that. Or maybe Anvil wouldn't want the world to know yet.

It's possible Natty gave him the OK to say it, knowing that his work centers around conditions of the brain. If she didn't then yes, it's awkward to say the least, but we don't know for certain.

I had no idea Chris Nowinski still had a good relationship with the WWE. Kind of cool to see, and a sign maybe they do want to do a better job taking care of their performers.

My wife's whole family both sides gets relatively early onset Alzheimer's . I think the youngest was 61. I wouldn't wish it on the worst person in the world.

It's not even just that either, you add in the drug issues he had in the pass as well. When I last saw a video interview with him, I can tell he was dealing with the after effects on things. Plus I think there was a total Divas episode that she had to deal with her dad's issue to get him help if I recall. It's said to see how many wrestlers have to deal with so much and yes the drugs for most is to cover the pain in there bodies from there bumps.

It's said to see how many wrestlers have to deal with so much and yes the drugs for most is to cover the pain in there bodies from there bumps. Reading Flair's and Bret's books and also seeing shoot interviews, in those days you truly worked seven days a week and twice on the weekend. You wrestled injured because if you asked for time off to deal with an injury you lost your spot. There wasn't a concussion protocol so you actually worked with a concussion making it much worse. Mick Foley said Nowinsky taught him that a concussion is not only getting knocked out, that a concussion is also seeing blurry or as the wrestlers call it "seeing stars", Foley was scared by this info because he realized that he had hundreds if not more of concussions, my guess is Neidhart also experienced the same. And the drugs sadly are the only way to cope through. Jim was traveling across the country while being hurt and never resting. I think Nowinsky also once mentioned that sleeping in cars and traveling that much makes the concussions worst.

Also add in that the dude played football for many years before wrestling.
