I remember Space: Above and Beyond being a huge deal, million dollar per episode budget when that was a huge amount, from the producers behind the X-files and Millennium at the height of their power, guest stars like David Duchovny. They really wanted it to be their Star Trek with marines, but 20 episodes or so, then oblivion. It was shown across the world without generating any real fanbase.

sky and other uk channels have a nasty habit of doing this, hyping a show massively just as it tanks and gets cancelled in the us. Before that stuff became easier to send internationally, there were a lot of shows Sky and Channel 4 hyped up that they acquired and by the time they did, it got cancelled after its first season.

I remember USA seeming to be absolutely desperate for Colony to be a hit. They ran ads for it constantly, insistently pushed it as an "event series" at every possible opportunity, and then they were as quick as possible to pick it up for three seasons only to cancel it pretty much the instant the third one ended. I don't think they ever even gave any indication as to what the hell the show was about. Honestly I've never understood what the hell happened with USA. They were dominant with quirky detective shows like Monk and Psych, and stuff in a somewhat similar (if darker) vein like reruns of House, NCIS, and SVU, and yet for some reason as their ratings have slid over the years they've more and more dug in their heels that gritty intense drama is what they need to turn it around even after one after another after another after another flops. Speaking of USA, whatever happened to Mr. Robot? That was hyped as hell for a while, then just disappeared.

Mr. Robot was still hyped, it was basically their version of Community, the show that would get them awards cred and made them look cool to potential creators and literally nothing else. Like, I think it was nominated for a couple of Emmys in its last season.

The Brothers Grunt was a MTV show by Danny Antonucci from around 1994 that MTV heavily promoted for a time in 1994, but by the fall, it was completely gone, almost as if it never aired. For that matter, pretty much all MTV cartoons that werent Beavis and Butthead or Celebrity Deathmatch: The Maxx, The Head, Cartoon Sushi, 3 South, Downtown, all had lots of hype, only to pretty much disappear (The Maxx was the only one to get a DVD release). For animation fans, The Brothers Grunt is infamously considered one of the straight-up worst cartoons of all times.

If memory serves they did this with The Bionic Woman reboot starring Michelle Ryan. They - and the British media - hyped it up as her big US break and a soap opera star making an international name for herself, and then went fairly quiet when the show was cancelled. It was a similar story with Anna Friel and Pushing Daisies.

you'd think it would be, but TV One airs three hours of it every weekday Same with Roseanne, to a degree. But it's all over nighttimes on I think Laff, and still on TV Land.

US version of Coupling. That is all. I’ll never forget TV Guide pegging that as the next big thing and it ended up being the first new show canceled that season. Didn’t it last two episodes? “Coupling is a sure thing” was their exact quote. Well it was. Only if you watched the UK version on PBS. They seemed to be grooming it to be the next Friends, as that was having its final season. Only, you know...

Battledome went from doing run-ins on WCW to quietly forgotten. Give it a view to enjoy a young Terry Crews

I don't know if it's exactly what the OP is looking for, but I remember in 2010 there was a show called My Generation about a group of high school friends who graduated in 2000 and following what became of their lives when they all wind up in each others social circles again ten years later (spoiler: DRAMA!). Not only do I remember a lot of television commercials advertising it, but there were ads and posters for it all over the subways. I don't think I got on a train for two months that didn't have an ad for it. Two episodes aired, I didn't watch either, and apparently I was in good company because the show was then canceled for low ratings. I came to post about My Generation. I can't overstate how New York City was COVERED with 'My Generation' imagery. In my 11 years there, this was at the very least a top 3 massive ad campaign of all time. Like, 'Minions' level inescapable. Even after the two episodes, the ads were up for at least three months after. It was also so ubiquitous, that a good at least four years after bands were still including music placements/appearances in it in their press kits. I remember the ad campaign also being so deliberately depressing. Terrible choice. It was like, motherf***er, we *JUST* barely got through a decade that included 9/11, a recession, a meritless war that forever f***ed our society, and Bird Flu. Why would you deliberately try to entice us with our own misery?

There was this one Fox show called “Lone Star” with James Wolk as this con man living double lives who wants to go good, and his dad’s all “no, you can’t go straight, let’s get that paper”. It got a ton of hype with a pretty significant campaign and all the magazines were raving about it. Like, they were expecting this to be the new Dallas. Then it airs two episodes and poof, it’s gone like that. Shame IMO, it had potential.

Home Improvement. Was a massive hit, it would beat Seinfeld in head to head ratings, JTT was a teen idol for a moment....and the show is just gone. Up TV an Laff, play it. What is Laff? Is it a streaming service? A channel in the US?

Last I checked, sometime last summer,Roseanne still aired an hour every day locally thru Syndication. Want to say it's the Jackson based FOx affilate that airs it.

Sometimes older stuff that hasn't been seen in years ,like Empty Nest, sometimes stuff that is all over, like According to Jim and That 70s Show. I love it cause they show Night Court for 2 or 3 hours every day. Plus use to show hours of Drew Carrey each day. I think it is on PlutoTV also.

(It’s a throw away line in the game monster camp.)

I remember Kyle XY had tons of magazine ads (all the same one of Kyle showing he had no belly button) then no promotion at all once it came out. I was surprised to find out it went like 3 seasons.
