I’ll just say a lot of you aren’t changing my mind about stuff I said earlier this week about ratings threads.
On both sides.
EDIT: Which is me saying I’m going to ignore these dumb threads from now on.

Ehh they still made #3 for the night.
If that's worrisome,I guess all the other shows they beat out must be on the verge of being cancelled

AEW is actively combating inflation. Three more episodes and I can afford butter on my bread again.😎

I can’t believe AEW is f***ing dead. They should’ve used more of the wrestlers I like, who are objectively good for ratings, and used less of the wrestlers I dislike who are objectively bad for ratings. Too late now though. RIP in peace.

There can still be worthy discussions to be had about the numbers even if a show is safe from being canceled. Numbers going up and down significantly (especially over a longer period of time) can at times be an indicator of interest in certain talent, in certain storylines, in the build or flow of the show, the quality overall, etc. And there’s of course the relevancy of the numbers on the business side to the ongoing media rights negotiations with Warner.

Those other shows aren't getting paid what AEW is for Dynamite.
All 3 of AEW's shows combined don't get the viewership of one WWE show. They'll get a bump with their next TV deal, but it's only because they are giving WBD way more hours of content to sell to advertisers, and diluting the product in the process.
I'm sure AEW would rather have to produce one show that gets 2 million vs 3 shows that get 800K, 600K and 400K or whatever.

Where's the homeboy with the doompost? Only reason I go in this threads sometimes.

I wish I could shoot Eric Bischoff into the sun for making TV ratings the end all/be all in the mind of smart marks everywhere.

Knowing AEW's history, Rampage is going to do a randomly good number tonight just to confuse everyone.

Where's the homeboy with the doompost? Only reason I go in this threads sometimes. They say that when God closes a door, he opens a window. Well, AEW opened its 'forbidden door', and look at where it led. Only to hell. This was a door of the devil's himself, and all that AEW has found within it are the long trenches of Malebolge, along trenches filled with falsifiers and simonists. Do we behold the eight quarter hour, or do we behold the Eighth Circle? The flatterers of Tony Khan may find themselves in only the second Bolgia, but your dearest Booker of the Year awaits a deeper still into the ninth circle. AEW will not be touring the frozen wasteland of Canada, but the frozen lake of Cocytus. The Forbidden Door should never have been opened and now there is no escape from the hell many years in the making, all crafted by the hands of Tony Khan himself. It was buried by people being extra weird about ratings. Took me a minute to find through all the swords and shield.

Rey Fenix should join QTV, rename himself Rey Ting, and team up with Johnny TV to create massive discourse/engagement.

Ratings are weird. I'm sure we all want the things we like to do well, but I'm just a fan and the day I start worrying about them is the day I quit watching wrestling altogether. I'll leave the analyzing to the people who enjoy following the business side of things.

And, end of the day, it's the network that determines what stays and what goes, not ratings.
I bet Warner would have Bugs Bunny himself present the truck of gold bars to Tony Khan if AEW were getting the ratings that WCW was getting when it was declining.
Despite those numbers, Jamie Kellner and AOL-TimeWarner wanted WCW gone and it was gone.
I say all this just to bring it on home that while ratings are an indicator of eyeballs on the product, and more is usually better, there's other contributing factors as well, such as advertisers, demos, cost of production, etc. etc.
So just watch your damn wrestling and enjoy it, don't watch it if you don't enjoy it, and quit giving yourself ulcers online by stressing over whether or not Jack Perry talking about porking Anna Jay is a ratings draw, brother.

I like analysing the numbers, no stress or anxiety involved & it doesn't factor into my enjoyment of the show whatsoever. I post the year on year stats for anyone who is similarly inclined. What I generally take away from these threads is that even on a low number week or in a cold period the shows usually chart very high which is a good sign for wrestling as a whole.
