It stuns me people still try to get away with such blatant plagiarism nowadays. I remember even in High School and College getting my writing degree and also the early days of YouTube and vids getting pulled for copyright. Creators of all levels were having those discussions about "At what point is content transformative enough?" and "At what point is a quotation just a paraphrase or ripping the quote wholesale?". Now we get people trying (and often succeeding up to a point) to do the most basic cut-paste jobs and thinking they found some untraceable exploit. Outright plagiarism is one of the VERY VERY few things people on the internet are damn near united on regardless of your beliefs (though some pro A.I. people love to show their ass when it comes to that). And the tools to detect it are becoming better and more known through word-of-mouth. And it's only going to get tougher to get away with. Finished watching the video after coming home from work. God is it satisfying to hear him call out "generative AI" at the end because my God was I thinking the entire time how everything he was criticizing applies to AI stuff, which I why I prefer to refer to AI "art" as AI plagiarism, because that's what it factually is. And as an artist myself and having posted many of my own pieces online, I feel directly targetted by it. For all I know, my work has been fed into those algorithms and being profitted from as we speak without my knowledge or consent. Dude, it makes me want to scream when people act like AI-generated anything is all a hustle thing and the people against it "just don't like competition". Like, you're TRYING to dodge the point by then. AI voice-acting is stolen vocals. AI artwork is stolen art-styles. Most AI writing is stolen work. It's a smokeshow and people are actually idiotic enough to either try to fool everyone into thinking it's a level playing field OR are so stupid they really think it is a level playing field. Ahh that cinemassacre section answered some questions I always had about those screen wave guys. Like, who are they? And what do they do and why does everyone hate them? Also, saw the original monster madness plagiarism video. If you're interested, there is a LadyEmily video on "The Cinemassacre Controversy" that does a deeper dive on how Screenwave (and in a few minor ways James himself, though more in a "content of questionable quality" way and less "genuine act of malice") have messed with Cinemassacre. She touches on the plagiarism in detail and goes into other issues the channel (and Screenwave) have had separate from that. Hbomberguy cites it in the video. youtu.be/EmC5Zte5RnMFinally watching the video... UrinatingTree was an angry gaming reviewer back in the day wasn't he? Good on him to change to angry meme sports fan and kind of documentarist. I remember being a fan of his old content way back when and was still subbed when he started again. I was shocked to see him rise from the dead like he did. If you sort the videos on his channel by oldest vid first, you can still see some of it (he's deleted some that didn't age well) and there's some archivist uploaders that uploaded the stuff he's dumped off. He has said he's debated doing a one-off return to it for shits and grins (FivePoints has admitted to enjoying his Ice Hockey video on an episode of Dumpster Fire) but doesn't want to forego his sports content to do that again, and isn't particularly proud his old content (both in how the content has aged and the quality itself).

For me, it depends on multiple factors. IF the subject matter can keep me pulled in and I have nothing going on that day and if having it on in the background counts, I can easily go 5-6 hours still paying at least enough attention to get what's going on.
I do think there's a ton of content creators that can't make long run times interesting for the full amount of time. But then there's some that just have SO MUCH info crammed into a video that it truly becomes insane to expect start-to-finish engagement and they'll even acknowledge it.
Like Quinton Reviews I'm convinced is making several hour vids just to be "The Guy That Made a [x] hour video about [subject]", and not having the content to justify it. His iCarly comprehensive retrospective absolutely did not need the "finding events that would be a felony" shtick (it was a completely derailing attempt at brevity) and could've cut the run-time down by a third if not by half, and the video would've been more focused and BETTER for it. And I haven't given him too many more shots past that, but I've heard similar of his other long reviews; that half of the content in his videos would've been better left decorating the cutting room floor or a goofy Patreon bonus.
On the other side of the coin though, I do think there's plenty that can justify the longer length. I remember hearing about a Sega Saturn reviewer, Pandamonium, when someone tweeted he was launching a 4 1/2 hour video just reviewing Virtua Cop. I thought that sounded absolutely unnecessary. But in the video he actually was able to gather part of the dev team and port team for basically their first gathering in decades to discuss the development, while also doing a deep dive on the game itself; what inspired the development, a full-game runthrough, what was changed from arcade to Saturn, how they pulled off certain tricks within the Saturn's limited 3D scape, etc. By the end, you feel like the people being interviewed pulled off a miracle and appreciate the game and their work more. The only things that could arguably have been cut were little bits here and there running long, but that's about it. I watched some of his other Saturn reviews and now I'm a huge fan of his.
Someone mentioned "Down the Rabbit Hole" and I agree with that, especially his later work. Frederick Knudsen has improved a ton to the point he's a master of making his videos thorough and spending no more/less time than needed on a segment. If he has a video that's multiple hours, he justifies every minute of it.

5 in a 14 man lol feels like the middle can be pretty rough but let’s go! You'd be surprised how many people want right in that middle area. Some people like having that consistent wait between picks versus waiting 20+ picks if you're on one of the ends (even if you get two picks in short order), with people like Xxcjb01xX [PIECE OF: SH-] (#1) and bob (#14) having to wait nearly 30 picks before they go again, even if they'll get two consecutive picks (CJB from even to odd, bob from odd to even). And while you get two picks close together, it can absolutely suck to see a position of need get whittled down a whole tier or two before it comes back around to you. You can pass on a QB with all but the top 3 or 4 still there, and then by the time it comes back the Top 9-10 are gone. Not saying that's what'll happen, just....that's the game you're playing. @ Gus Richlen Was Wrong was celebrating getting #11 in the Discord just because he wasn't on the edges for once (I think the last few years he's either been at/around the very front or the very back...I seem to recall one year he was near or possibly even AT #1 overall and wasn't too pleased), and Seth Drakin of Monster Crap was ecstatic to be at 7. I think you can win from any position, but being near the front makes it all the more important you hit your first pick. Heaven forbid, a CMC or JJ goes on season-ending IR in Week 3, it takes A TON to pick up those pieces. It's not impossible; I took LeVeon in his holdout year at #2 overall and still made the playoffs (I DID make sure to pick up James Conner later in the draft as insurance, BOY DID THAT PAY OFF!!!!!), but you have a hell of a hole to dig yourself out of.

So I mentioned this in the Discord, but I found some interesting stats going through league history.
- 7 out of 12 times, the champion picked a RB in Round 1 - 2 out of 12 times, the champion picked a QB in Round 1 (Aaron Rodgers in 2011, Russell Wilson in 2020) - 3 out of 12 times, the champion picked a WR in Round 1 (Antonio Brown in 2015, Julio Jones in 2018, Davante Adams in 2021) - Nobody in F.A.N.tasy history has gone TE in Round 1 and won the title.
- The earliest spot to ever win a title was #3 overall, which oddly enough has happened twice....in the first two years of the league (andrew8798 in 2011, Skyloft Groosenators in 2012). Since then, the earliest pick to win the league is.....CJB last year at #5.
- In 2018, Billy Goel DID win the title from the #14 spot (2018, took Julio Jones and then opened Round 2 with Michael Thomas). So winning from the very back of the line has been done. BUT nobody has won it picking earlier than #3 (and not in over 10 years).
- 2 people have won the title taking LeSean McCoy in the 1st (The Losers in 2013, JcChasez's Thug Appeal in 2017)
- And lastly, the most common draft slot for a champion is deadlocked between 4 numbers....3, 7, 8, and 12. Each of those numbers have had two people win the title from them.
Likewise, nobody has ever won the title drafting from 1, 2, 4, 10, 11, or 13.
----------------------- And if anyone is curious, here is the League championship history:
Year - Team Name - Draft Position - Player Taken (position)
2022 – The CJB Fightin' Eagles – 5 – Austin Ekeler (RB) 2021 – Edge of Insanity – 12 – Davante Adams (WR) 2020 – Friskey Reunion – 8 – Russell Wilson (QB) 2019 – Gridiron Heights – 7 – Ezekiel Elliott (RB) 2018 – Billy Goel – 14 – Julio Jones (WR) 2017 – JCChasez's Thug Appeal – 9 – LeSean McCoy (RB) 2016 – Demented Darlings – 12 – Adrian Peterson (RB) 2015 – Rusev Crush – 6 -Antonio Brown (WR) 2014 – Skyloft Groosenators – 7 – Matt Forte (RB) 2013 – The Losers – 8 – Lesean McCoy (RB) 2012 – Skyloft Groosenators – 3 – Ray Rice (RB) 2011 – andrew8798 – 3 – Aaron Rodgers (QB)

OK, all invites should have been sent. If I missed anybody or if there's still technical issues with anyone's invites, let me know.

I'm having some technical difficulties with invites right now (as the few of you that have received the first invites might have noticed). Gimmie a bit here and I'll get it squared away.

THE 2023 F.A.N.TASY FOOTBALL SEASON IS ABOUT TO BEGIN
LEAGUE INFO:
There will be 14 teams in the league, no more, no less. If a spot is forfeit for any reason (more on that in a moment), I will open a spot back up for another player to take over. So please, if you're going to join in, be certain you're in it for the long haul. Few things in the league suck as much as an inactive team.
The draft will be conducted in a snake-style draft. The draft order will be determined by a draft lottery that (assuming the league fills up at the pace it normally does) will take place on July 31st. The order will be reversed in even-numbered rounds. Example: If I got the 5th selection in the lottery, I'd have the 5th choice in the odd numbered rounds, but would have the 9th pick in even-numbered rounds. And yes, this does mean if you have the 1st pick or the 14th pick, you'll often be making two selections in a row, but in return you'll be waiting awhile before the draft comes back around to you.
The rosters will consist of 1 QB, 2 RBs, 2 WRs, 1 TE, 1 DEF, 1 Kicker, and one Flex position which can be used to play a 3rd RB, a 3rd WR, or 2nd TE on any given week. The flex position CANNOT be used for a QB, defense, or kicker. Defense can score more points than in a normal league, though not so much that defense becomes overvalued.
The schedule will consist of a 14 week regular season starting on Week 1; this means that everybody will play every other team one time during the regular season, and then one randomized rematch to compensate for the additional week in the NFL season
The top 8 teams will qualify for the playoffs, which will take place across weeks 15/16/17 (no games will be played Week 18, as many teams will opt to rest players and/or play backups). There will be losers brackets and the like through the playoffs, so even if you lose in week 15, you will still play on to decide your final ranking. Any teams KO'd from the playoffs will have their teams "locked", preventing them from letting players go or obtaining new players (to prevent meddling or collusion).
The only real grounds for being kicked from the league is collusion between two teams or just being an overall jerk (remember when I said "Few things in the league suck as much as an inactive team"?). If you are suspended from the forums during the league year (and suspension is unrelated to the league) or delete your account, you will be allowed to play out the season, though obviously entering next year might be an issue. if your suspension DOES have to do with the league, action will be taken; most likely, being locked out of your team and future league activity.

Going to my grandparents tomorrow for Independence Day (the lake in town is shooting fireworks tomorrow night to take advantage of lake traffic). My uncle is gonna be there, and me and him had some choice words last time we were in the same room together.
I can keep quiet and mind my own business, but he'll run his mouth. He's one of those people that sees nobody responding and thinks that means he "wins", instead of thinking his words have no effect.

I'm going to a tournament in Kansas City Kansas on Saturday. Not sure how I'll do, but the 9 straight wins in Ranked I just rolled off have me feeling positive, even if I'm just a Silver player.
I usually do awful in tournaments though. Dunno what it is. I don't even feel pressure but it just feels like everything that worked stops working.

Oh, there's a small spoiler out. It's fairly minor, but I'll tag it, all the same. {Spoiler}{Spoiler}It would seem that Lily is T. Hawk's daughter. {Spoiler}{SPOILER} They teased she had some connection to him in some of the trailers/developer talks, but yeah.
I'm fine with it myself. 2 grapplers on a starting roster is plenty (now if after Year 3 of DLC we have no new ones, that's different). T. Hawk isn't a conventional one but his primary damage-dealer is a command grab.
It does make me wonder if they'll do similar "next of kin" for other fighters in Year 2's DLC and onwards.

I'm psyched as hell. Got my Deluxe Edition pre-ordered and paid off at Best Buy (so I'm getting a steelbook with it). Can't wait to dust off Zangief, though I do have a few questions (I like the "gotcha" of an anti-air throw, but the lariat was doing that just fine...does that mean the lariat got nerfed???...I DID see a vid with an EX Lariat, wondering how the hell that works).
I'm also anxious to try Manot and a few other characters. I scoffed at the modern control scheme, but it would be fun to run characters in arcade/survival to get the jist of how the combos and functions work, then swap over to classic and jump online versus fumbling in classic and dropping everything.
I wasn't exactly WOWED by the story mode in the demo, but I'll give it at least one go. I hope you don't have to do a full-reset playthrough when you create a new character. I'd like to create a decent roster of people to use online against, like, friends and stuff, have different builds. Which also makes me wonder how many characters is the maximum. If they pulled off some "pay to have extra slots" malarky that would be.............well, the norm for the gaming world nowadays.
