I know this isn't some hugely popular franchise, but it's a shame most people think of the movies when the name comes up now and not even the series on Nickelodeon. I don't go out of my way to watch it, but my niece watches it and compared to some of the other crap she watches (coughTeenTitansGocough), it's not half bad. I'd have been into it when I was younger. Part of that seems to be the lack of advertising on Nickelodeon's part... Which is kinda funny, considering next to Spongebob it's probably the show they play the most on the channel. But yeah, it's pretty creatively written and doesn't go out of its way to be obnoxious and current. Hell, there's one episode where Theodore acts like one of the movie Chipmunks and everyone else acts like he's being a total tool. Dunno if that's how it was intended, but it got a little bit of a chuckle from me when I put it together. Not to mention, the first time I heard that the theme song was a rendition of the theme from the 80s cartoon, I was kinda impressed by that.

Stuns me we don't hear about this more often. There's already a large handful that DO disclose it proper (some put a blurb in the description or at the start of the video, while others will outright say in the video it's a paid segment), and some that will adjust their review system for it (one reviewer I watch refuses to score any games he's paid to review and simply talks about them). How easy would it be to just tuck away somewhere that you were paid (embed the video on your site and only say on your site you were paid)? Or just not say it? I mean, if someone like Pewdiepie can go two years without anyone figuring it out, there's gotta be other examples. On top of that, two years is an eternity when it comes to monetized videos on YouTube. Everyone that got paid for it and had the video monetized has received 99.9% of the money they'd ever get off those videos. How the f*** does Pewdiepie have 46 million subs??? Doesn't he literally just play a game on a live stream? How the f*** is he convincing people to watch that??? His commentary and sense of humor, pretty much. That's pretty much the only way to draw people into watching a stream of you playing, that or if you're doing interesting things to the games (Vinesauce's "corruptions", NewLegacyInc's use of in-game creation tools, speedrunners/glitchers, and so on).

If they'd book Joe competently as a powerhouse enough to make me believe Joe might just win, yes.
If it's one of Joe's first matches out of NXT would be Lesnar and he'd likely lose, no.

I understand it if used for a special surprise guest or return (since they legitimately do the "stay in the limo/bus" routine for those kinds of people anyway), but yeah, I could do without it being used for week-by-week roster people.
If they reserved it for "arriving earlier today" shots on PPVs to build up drama, I think it could still work well. They do it like that for major sporting events or championship games. WWE could use it to the same effect. You see the mindset of a challenger for the WWE title as they arrive at the place where they'll either win it for the first time/regain it, or fall short. Show the champion arriving earlier today to an arena, stepping out of a limo (or other vehicle) and play up that when they live in that ride it might be without their title. There's a lot of ways you can play it up and show some character.
This is still something I believe can be done right if thought out even a little bit. But yeah, the "[day-to-day roster member] shows up halfway through the show" thing is dumb. It's still dumb when they follow it with someone running up delivering news. In this day of cell phones, social media, and so on, along with how attached people are to their phones, it makes no sense for them to just then "get the news" when they leave the vehicle and try to explain it away with a "couldn't contact"/"bad reception"/"don't have their number" line.

There is zero doubt in my mind that we will get a promo tonight revolving around some combination of "Pokemon Go," "more difficult to catch than OJ," and "amiright?" #30Writers And Vince laughs so hard he turns into The Incredible Hulk. I think it'll be the New Day searching for Pokemon in the Wyatt compound, they'll think they've found a Mareep but it's Rowan. I'd laugh my ass off if they did that. Or Xavier gives one last ditch effort to talk them out of going in, and then right at the gate he talks them out of it somehow, but then something rare pops up on the app and Xavier completely forgets his fear of the Wyatts and has to get it.

Nothing wrong with the song, but "Big Time" for Wrestlemania 22 was just random as hell. Plus, it didn't seem to fit much of what was going on leading up or any specific feud. It also didn't help that a different song titled "Big Time" was used as a theme at 21.
Considering the main event for the show, and using the INSANELY awesome "The End Is Near" leading into and recapping it, why they used some skippy remix of "Sweet Home Alabama" for Armageddon 2000 is beyond me.

Man, people are gonna be really pissed off when this segment is absolutely nothing at all like Final Deletion.
Hell, last Monday nobody thought it would be until Final Deletion was in the books.

Since you can't share a negative opinion of Jericho on here without people pretending it's a personal attack on themselves, I'll just say... 6 more months of this? Oh boy.

I've always gotten a real Paul Heyman-esque slimeball shyster vibe off Taffer, even if that's (likely) just him turned up to 11 for the cameras.
I like them both, but for me it's Ramsay all day.

I'm not ENTIRELY feeling that new Ryder theme...but I thought the original theme was just dull and boring. This at least doesn't have that problem.

Vader He served his purpose as being the bully who beat up people for no reason. Was the only real threat to Shawn Michaels during his title run. And that's only if you recall his WWF run (which to be fair, IS the title of the thread). And it would have been a hell of a lot better had Shawn not been so shitty about working with him, and if Vince had more respect for his legacy than "just a kinda-known big guy". I know Jim Cornette ain't always on the up and up with what he says, but his stories on Vince and Vader's interactions are so "...holy shit, did he REALLY not know what he had?!?!?" ridiculous.

Best. Unintentional censorship. Ever. Just look at the video on PETA's YouTube, it's about 5 minutes of a sweet old lady cursing like a sailor while making it. So THAT'S where that video comes from. That video has popped up at least once a week every week for the past godknowshowmany months on my Facebook timeline.

Especially in this day and age where voice actors are so heralded almost to a fault (how many times has a replacement voice actor been given ZERO chance because a studio didn't retain the original, regardless of any circumstances preventing that), it's worth it to splurge a little for them. At least don't get someone of questionable quality.

I still remember all the hooplah over this every year around Thanksgiving when John Madden still did play-by-play for football games. People would just cook one while tailgating if they knew their Thanksgiving football game was the one FOX covered (and therefore Madden/Summerall would be doing the commentary), because there was a good chance they'd get on TV with it. Nowadays with all the cooking stuff you can find on the internet and Epic Meal Time and whatnot, this almost seems like a tame and reasonable entree for a special event by comparison. But for a long time this was THE insane food item. Best. Unintentional censorship. Ever.

I mentioned it in the other thread, but the tail end of Undertaker's biker gimmick where he was Deadman Inc. and all about "respect" was damn good. I remember HATING that heel run at the time, but now in retrospect it was great. I think something like that would be great for Cena/Roman if they ever wanted to pull the trigger on a heel turn or at least roll with the boos past just a couple lines of dialogue in an otherwise babyface promo. I think many of us see heels from the past with a brighter light than we once did, but one I still don't think gets enough credit is Rick Martel. He was GOLD as The Model in the ring and on the mic. His promos, both in the writing and delivery were amazing. He knocked that gimmick out of the park, and if it wasn't for the general hokeyness of the gimmick, it'd have been worth a world title run easily. People hated him (in kayfabe), he had a great feud with Jake Roberts (I know, a spaghetti noodle could have a great feud with Jake Roberts, but still), he had the longest time spent in the Royal Rumble by a longshot in 91 and would have held it MUCH longer had it not been for Flair in 92 and Backlund in 93. I think people now look back on Sid a lot more favourably than they did at the time. When they tried to make him the next "guy" to take over Hogan's spot, no. When they LET him be the big frankenstein "not bright but will beat the shit out of the entirety of the planet Earth" guy he was in the mid/late 90s, GOD yes. Sycho Sid was SO DAMN good. Again with the "look to the past to build the future" thing, if you wanna make Bray Wyatt look like a true monster by the time he's feuding for the WWE title, go back and look not so much on Sid's promos, but how he was booked and what the character did. Bray Wyatt looks like he is into some voodoo stuff and would get into your head psychologically, but Sid at that time made you legit think "this is a guy that is just fine with literally murdering someone in the ring". And that would be the push Bray would need, IMO, to truly seem like a threat to the title and like a threatening champion when he gets it. New Generation. Maybe the biggest down period for the company, financially, but Bret, Shawn, Owen, Bulldog, 123 Kid etc etc, all had some amazing matches. Watching that period back, the match quality was awesome. WM 10 is one of my faves if for nothing but Owen/Bret and HBK/Razor. Agreed completely. Shit on the lame gimmicks all day if you want, but the roster was just STACKED with in-ring ability that if you went to a show at that time you were guaranteed to see at least 1 great match, assuming they didn't pair the best talents with total slouches.

Some FAN people, a little wrestling (I pretty much hate wrestling right now, TBH), a lot of sports journalists and parody accounts, a lot of people I watch on YT...that's about it. I'd follow more comedians, but damn, so many of their tweets read like either jokes from their acts that were left on the cutting room floor, or them being snarky jagoffs.

I'm actually starting a retro-game collecting blog (hence the sig), and plan on uploading short gameplay demo vids to supplement the review; they won't be the reviews themselves nor will they be complete walkthroughs/speedruns/LPs of them. I have a degree in writing and wanna use the blog to catapult either making money on the blog or putting it on a resume for a professional editing/writing/journalism career, if not both of those things.
I tried to get into streaming but found I just wasn't interesting enough to hold a stream up. When I play, I just wanna play. Unless I'm SO comfortable with a game that I don't need to concentrate to do well, I feel awkward trying to commentate my way through what's going on. I could drop factoids about the game as I go, but I feel the blog could do that a lot better than just dropping them here and there in an otherwise dull LP. I'll give all the credit in the world for the people doing YT review videos AND LPs together, but that's not me. If you give me time to write it out, set it up, prepare everything, I honest-to-God think I could make something of it. But you give me a mic, a console, a random game and just tell me to "go" and do it improvisational, I'm trash. I gotta have a plan and a script before I hit "record". So if I were doing LPs like that, MAYBE I could cut it. But again, I'm more comfortable in my writing ability.
