Yeah, I doubt James gave a shit, himself, really, outside of that it gave him something he'd have to field questions about, which he probably saw as a nuisance. It isn't like Chris Bores likely did any damage to his bottom line.

It's kind of funny: he obviously could carry people like Virgil sometimes, but I always found it interesting that his matches with Diesel were as good as they were. Nash was much better than Virgil, but still could be pretty limited. Bret made good use of his strengths, and frankly, their matches were better than a lot of the ones he had with stronger workers like Shawn. Go figure. I think it's because in the Diesel match, Bret was 100% calling the whole thing and Diesel just had to be a dance partner.
Sometimes when you get guys who are both fantastic workers you get amazing music - like Flair and Steamboat.
Sometimes you get players who are stepping all over each other, which is how I see Bret/Shawn
Maybe so, though I think it's also a case where Bret built some of his matches like a puzzle, like "how does Bret 'solve' the issue of fighting a guy so much bigger than him?', playing off the dynamic. He did it with Yokozuna and some other big men, too, obviously, but Diesel and Yoko had very different skill sets and Bret planned accordingly with spots that made use of it. It's as you say, I doubt Shawn was as apt to listen to Bret, and vice versa, though they did at least usually cooperate with each other long enough to have good matches, just not as good as they maybe ought to have been.

I do feel like her going to AEW wouldn't be a shock. She did say that she chose Impact over AEW on leaving WWE because she felt Impact would give her somewhere to grow without as intense pressure and scrutiny (or something to that effect? EVS interview from ages ago about her WWE release, etc.), and time has shown she likely made the right call. I don't really know that WWE would be any closer to understanding her "Virtuosa" character now than they were back then, but I also get that WWE has a couple of avenues to maybe get a top spot, and might appear easier to do that than with AEW. ("Easier" and "Easy" are absolutely not synonyms here, granted, neither is by any means a surefire thing.)

Remember when he was profiled by The Washington Post in 2017 and was jovial laughing as Dominic Denucci calling a former President a hard-r racial slur? That was the moment I was done with him forever. It doesn't help that he starred in the absolute most unwatchable "film" in the Troma library. Yeah, like I have basically no good will towards him, but even if I did, I don't really see what he'd add to anything. We did have Samoa Joe basically throw the TV title in the trash, but we didn't miss Shane Douglas or Madusa for that event.

I will say that, if they did do Joe who then would lose to Swerve, probably after Swerve puts MJF on the injured list for heat, that'd be a 1-2 punch addressing the (valid) criticism of AEW's top title being pretty white. It would not cancel it out, obviously, but having a Samoan champ and then a black one would certainly be a statement, and both guys are on that level, anyhow, so it's not a Jinder situation where it was purely cynical.

Bret Hart got a good match out of a bad worker!? Color me shocked! It's kind of funny: he obviously could carry people like Virgil sometimes, but I always found it interesting that his matches with Diesel were as good as they were. Nash was much better than Virgil, but still could be pretty limited. I loved Boy Meets World, but the show's continuity errors are insane. Topanga's parents were played by a few different people and there was even a sister that never got mentioned again after season 1. The show went off the rails around season 4 when suddenly Cory and Topanga were dating since they were in the womb. That made no sense to anyone who watched the first 3 seasons but it went on to define what the show became. Don’t get me wrong, I am a big Boy Meets World fan, but the continuity errors and retconning was really bad. It just struck me as completely unnecessary since it wasn't like there wasn't plenty of subtext to Cory and Topanga's dynamic in the first few seasons, anyway, they didn't need to try to try to sell it as some destined thing. If anything, that just kind of undermines what was compelling about the pairing to begin with.

Naito apparently shot down Zandokan Jr's request to have him join LIJ. I wonder if that is the end of that, or if Zandokan will try to further plead his case. Similarly, I wonder if Tsuji and Zandokan will further be associated whether he ever gets into LIJ or not. I still think a big Mexican pirate would kind of aesthetically fit into LIJ's dynamic a good deal, so there's that, in any case.

I'd go Nitro if I were picking now, as I am a Traylor fan and Konnan had his moments. I never got into the Godwinns, really.

I am very happy that the Mana series has gained enough traction for a new game, guessing the remake did well.

FF7 finally gets its vocal theme. Also I am so very happy seeing Cid appear. He was always my favorite. I like him a lot, but man, I wonder if they're going to tone down how he talks to Shera, because some of that is probably going to get real uncomfortable with voice acting before he lets it go.

I was hoping for a new Virtua Fighter and maybe NiGHTS, but I can't complain given what we got. Besides, I do think a new Virtua Fighter is probable, it just isn't going to be right this moment. NiGHTS is a little trickier.

Naturally people are being Very Normal about the fact that Tears of the Kingdom didn't win a meaningless award on a three hour infomercial. Same about Pizza Tower. It's one of those things where, it's not like the awards are entirely "who gives a shit", but it's only marginally bigger than that. Getting nominated/talked about is probably not going to make a whole lot less difference compared to what comes from winning the things, since I can't imagine there are that many people holding off on getting a game until Geoff's show says to. If you win, that's cool, but if you don't, it's super not worth getting upset about.

I do like that MJF and Hangman have had beef since day one of AEW, and MJF being a face doesn't change that dynamic one bit.

I'm still equally surprised and thankful that he never had a full make out session with Stephanie on live TV. Stephanie shot down at least one incest storyline suggestion, so, we can thank her, though I think it was her and Shane.

I get the anger, but if he's being released, there's a pretty solid chance this is a "hand him a Bible (or Torah in this case?), he's studying for the final" situation, not unlike when it happened to Jimmy Snuka.

There's got to be a ton of these that are like when Kevin Owens faced a still-heel Braun Strowman, and you have the dynamic of "skilled, but asshole, heel" versus "monster heel who can punish the asshole heel" that sidesteps some of the usual heel vs heel issues, since inevitably, you have a de facto face of the match, the punishing monster or the valiant(or wily) underdog.

That thumbnail makes Punk look like a distorted action figure. He needs to come with a silver chainsaw and a random barbell.
