Haven't seen her mentioned yet, but Sherri Martel was usually good for a laugh with her over the top reactions during promos “BETTER THAN THE BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEST!!!!!” I always cracked up this exchange between Savage and Sherri. She was just so insistent that he was the best, she wouldn’t even let him doubt it. “When the peasants talk about the best…” “They’re talkin’ Macho Kingggg…” “No, they’re not!” “Oh yes they are!!” “No they’re not!” “Yes they are!!” “NO THEY’RE NOT!” “……YES THEY ARE!!” “Get outta here!!” (Shoves Sherri completely out of frame)

Eddie Murphy. Just..........just Eddie Murphy. Its weird because every once in awhile he’ll do something like Bowfinger, Dolemite is My Name or Life (an underrated gem) and you’ll get excited that he’s back and then he’ll disappear or do a couple terrible movies to follow up. The man sacrificed an Oscar to promote Norbert, for heaven’s sake. He’s super rich and seems fairly content in life which is great but the days when he was seen as the funniest human being on the planet seen distant now.

For how overproduced the Vince/Dunn era was, it is shocking how long commentary is silent after Michael Cole said “The streak….is over”

I’d say his win at 13 was the right call. The addition of Chyna really gave his act a boost and he was about to get the KOTR win he was scheduled for in ‘96. Hunter being on a roll going into KOTR coincided perfectly with Foley being presented as a more sympathetic figure after the JR interviews and really juiced that feud up as well.

Apparently more of the book’s contents have hit the ol’ Twitter and it seems Becky besmirches Alexa Bliss quite a bit.

The theme song to Wrestlemania 22 being Peter Gabriel’s “Big Time”, which was released the same year as Wrestlemania 2.
Ironically enough, 22 was the last Mania to be held in an arena as opposed to a stadium (excluding 36 for reasons outside their control) so it was actually a “Small Time” Mania.

He's using more powerbombs now, they can legit just be Adam Bombs. Only if he throws little nerf footballs into the crowd.

At the time he was scheduled to be in Uncensored's Doomsday Cage match, and it really wasn't going to be get better once the NWO was going to hit because Sean Waltman would have taken the spot that could have been for him. Really it's all a big mystery what Brian Pillman could have become, but I don't think that he would have been able to thrive. He might have always had a division of cruiserweights but those were always going to be just the openers for whatever the NWO was doing. Apparently the reason Pillman skipped out on Uncensored was because he knew Hogan would want to get the pin on him to soak up all the heat Pillman was getting at the time. I think even if he wanted to stay in WCW, he was smart enough to realize he had a better path to the top in WWF at the time (before the accident of course)

One of the few guys to ever make the “I’m talking normally NOW IM SHOUTING now I finish in a whisper” type of promo work.

Maybe it was Orton who sent Booker this Time Lord Randy Orton would definitely be a fresh direction for him. It’s ultimately revealed that Randy was behind the breaking of his father’s arm.

I’ve never been a huge fan of Cardona’s but I give him a ton of credit for how well he’s done for himself since his release. He came up with a tremendous gimmick, upped his game and deserves all the success he’s gotten.

Undertaker beating the brakes off David Flair in the run-up to WMX8. Taker beat the holy hell out of Maven after the shock Rumble elimination as well.

I might be misremembering, but it seems to me that AEW are largely copying how they handled CM Punk following his debut with how they're handling Mercedes. Hint at debut but don't confirm it Debut in "home town" Open the show with a promo Promos and guest commentary In ring debut on PPV Not saying it's the right way to do it, but if we're comparing Mercedes' debut to other wrestlers, then the only one she's comparable to is Punk. You’re right. However: 1. Punk is just a better talker than her. 2. Punk got into the ring a few weeks after his debut. If her first match is at the PPV, then that’s like DOUBLE the amount of time that Punk took to have a match. 3. You cannot book every new star the same way because every new star is DIFFERENT! Punk also hadn’t wrestled in the better part of a decade. There was so much more anticipation to see if he could still go in the ring, you don’t just throw that one out there. That mystery/anticipation doesn’t really exist for Mercedes. Yes, it’s a different company with different opponents but she was wrestling last year. There’s not even a “But she’s not Sasha Banks no more, it’s totally different!” because (aside from the fact that she’s still more or less Sasha Banks), we’ve seen Mercedes Moné in Japan. Her AEW debut is exciting but not on the level of Punk’s return in terms of a big event.

Interesting twist: Jack Lemmon & Walter Matthau were in lots of movies together but JFK, of all movies, was the only one where they didn’t share any scenes together.

Andre attacking Hogan after an SNME bout with King Kong Bundy. Half the face locker room couldn’t pull Andre off Hogan. It took Hacksaw Duggan breaking the goddamn 2x4 over Andre’s back to even distract him long enough for the faces to get Hogan to safety. Really came across like Andre was trying to end the Hulkster for good.

I saw the special IMAX showing of Ex Machina the other night and forgot about the great Ghosbustets joke a drunken Oscar Isaac makes. That will likely be my only Ghostbustin’ in a theater this season, as I truly loathed Afterlife.

One of my favorite little stories along these lines is about Sid Haig playing a judge in Jackie Brown. He’d been the heavy in a couple of Pam Grier’s 70’s films and Tarantino thought it would be a fun little nod. He didn’t tell Pam about it and apparently she cracked the hell up the first time she saw Sid in the judge costume.
