If that were a scan versus a photo of a physical cover, I could totally buy that as a fanmade mockup from when Tennant was originally announced back when.

Yeah, it's starting to kinda get to the point where even accounting for the states that let you claim anonymously, I'm not sure I'd want the gigantic target on me that would invariably result from winning the jackpot.

Also, still using NASCAR as an example, but re: scraggly mullets and bushy moustaches and the difference a flattering haircut can make, I give you trading cards of Dale Jarrett in 1996 at age 40 and then Dale Jarrett in 2000 at age 44: It's almost exactly the transformation Bob Holly made, though admittedly Bobcore had considerably more mullet and less 'stache to start with.

Definitely it's at the $$$ level now that if people are going to try some shady shit, it's gonna be exponentially more likely now. Not sure how tamper-able things would be at the state level versus at the national level, but any gambling anything is invariably more vulnerable to inside jobs more than anything.

I think there's also something to be said for the prevailing hairstyles of the 70s, 80s, and early to mid 90s for the most part. Hogan might be the star example of iconic-yet-unflattering hair making someone look considerably older, but scraggly mullets and bushy moustaches had that effect for plenty of guys over that time period, and not just in wrestling; you look at the majority of NASCAR drivers through around 1998 or so and suddenly it's easy to see why Kyle Petty and Jason Keller didn't look substantially out of place when they cameoed on Nitro.

As someone who has had to take multiple classes and trainings on workplace conflicts, it's worth noting that bringing a neutral third party with you as a mediator to a dispute with a coworker is absolutely a thing you'd do. And especially with the Elite holding positions of power, bringing in legal is like, the move. I'm not seeing at all how The Elite were out of line in handling this. Also those trainings were just yearly requirements, I'm not like, a deviant at work or something, lol. This. I've dealt with interpersonal conflict situations at work where the he-said she-said was so bad that one of the parties straight up refused to be alone in a room with the other party without a third witness, precisely as a guard against unwarranted yet unproveable accusations. It's the same reason in healthcare that neutral chaperones are a thing when examining patients in certain contexts or sensitive situations. It's been said in this thread numerous times, but man, in addition to shining a spotlight on all the intractable Punk stans out there, it's also doing a damn good job of showing off who's never actually had to deal with a professional workplace.

What is the benefit of doing these fake schools/teams? Are the people behind collecting tuition from the players and money from scheduling IMG? Not quite tuition, but with Bishop Sycamore at least I believe that's more or less exactly what it was. They had a paltry amount of staff versus what you'd expect for even a high school team (let alone one that would be in the same tiers as their opponents), and they would negotiate with these big programs with something along the lines of "we'll be a tomato can for you so our guys can get experience playing a big program, as long as you pay for our travel expenses". Then the head coach would just put the team up in the bare minimum accommodations and pocket the rest. Rinse and repeat. I also say 'bare minimum accomodations' and then I read some more and it sounds like multiple hotels and bus companies came out of the woodwork afterwards to say basically the coach either paid them with bad checks or just straight up didn't pay them, so yeah.

For whatever inexplicable reason, Big Bang Theory seems to have reached that "we want spinoffs to keep this franchise going" tier. I want to say there was a second spinoff past Young Sheldon announced but I'm terrified to double check. Either way, it's hella impressive for a series which barely had a nerd following at the very beginning (at least if the handful of BAZINGA! t-shirts I saw around were any indication) and which nobody seems to know anybody that actually watches it willingly.

Cannonball Run starring John Cena, Batista, Steve Austin, Vince McMahon, William Regal, Tajiri, Edge, Christian, Becky Lynch, Asuka, The Miz, Maryse, Great Khali, Natalya, Jeff Jarrett, JBL, Scott Steiner, and Booker T. I like the way you're thinking, I've always been a sucker for big ridiculous ensemble cast movies. I'd go for yet another remake of Death Race 2000 but with a little bit of Sharknado seasoning, in the sense of getting pretty much every single celebrity and motorsport driver that'd be willing to make fun of themselves to jump onboard. Alternatively, a ridiculous martial arts tournament flick done like a martial arts version of the Expendables.

I love me some crab and lobster, but for whatever reason I've never quite been able to make the jump to shellfish, or at least without it being prepared in a way that it's not obviously shellfish. I think it's the texture. My one exception to that is conch fritters. Beer-battered conch fritters are amazing.

I feel like he's kind of in that nonspecific "as old as the plot of the episode needs him to be" age range that you see a lot of legacy toon characters in. Pragmatically, he's also just sort of in that "shorter sidekick to the hero" role that Hanna-Barbera adored ad nauseum. Re: shorter sidekicks, I feel like they also tended to follow a dichotomy of either being more rambunctious than the hero and likely to get them into trouble, or more milquetoast than the hero and trying to keep them out of trouble. Boo Boo clearly falls into the latter more often than not.

Why do I have a feeling that at least a few of the names involved with Bishop Sycamore are going to be somehow tied to this? I don't remember the exact specifics but I know for a few of said folks, Bishop Sycamore wasn't their first rodeo with a scam school setup, it was just the first that got busted to the extent that it was.

I think his work in 2016/2017/2018 has a mystique around it a bit because that was the period I think introduced him to much of his new fandom (and NJPW along with him). Yeah, it's honestly hard to tell how much of his 2016-2018 work is put on a pedestal from a combination of factors, namely the whole "Puro is inherently better" mindset, the tape trading mindset (in the sense of word of mouth versus accessibility of matches), and how much is from New Japan as a whole being insanely hot through that era. To build off of what you said, I feel like a lot is also the sheer whiplash of him going from "this is the guy that did Zangief's Final Atomic Buster on a blow-up doll" to "this is THE CLEANER", which obviously certain parts of the fandom have utterly refused to get over, but that's neither here nor there.

I feel like we're going to be having this debate in a few years about whether or not Kenny Omega peaked in New Japan and was all downhill through his AEW run.

Makes me curious if they're going to build off of Shin Godzilla or clear the board for yet another Godzilla reboot, though at least it's a franchise where that's the norm more than it isn't.

I'd just be happy that my state is one of the handful of states that lets you claim a jackpot anonymously.

also am I the only one who thinks Elmo's Dad is just a spare Telly puppet with some hair glued on and wearing clothes? I actually had to go look now that you pointed it out. Don't know how hard it is to refur a Muppet, but I feel like Elmo's dad in the ads had the same red fur as Elmo, versus Telly's more purply sort of red. Head shape's the right size though.

I'd just really like to get any word at all about when ROH will be able to go off and do their own thing. I feel like that's been the biggest thing making AEW feel so disjointed the last number of months.
And it's not even that I dislike the ROH stuff, because I don't, I love me some Prince Nana and I've been liking Jericho's ECW McMahon run with the belt, it's just making TV feel extremely crowded lately.

Okay I was half-paying attention and caught the very tail end of the HoB segment and I had to make sure I didn't just hallucinate a Malakai interstitial.
