I'll be ecstatic if Kolo Toure signs for Celtic. Great defender with boatloads of experience. He'll be great in the short term while Celtic focus on building up their centre backs and wait for injuries to go away.
I thought Toure was the best Liverpool player in the Europa League final earlier this year. Every other Liverpool player looked like they had given up, and Kolo was the only one who actually seemed to be trying to stop Sevilla from scoring more goals.

Seeing a lot of people laughing at Moyes being named Sunderland manager after his time at United. I guess they've already forgotten that he took over Everton when they were on the verge of relegation all those years ago. He took them from the abyss to competing for Europe every year and everyone dreaded seeing Everton on their schedule.
If they give him enough time and power, he could put the Mackems in that same position.

So, for the International Champions Cup event (which I actually like, because the first ICC had a match here in Indianapolis that was one of the best attended... though I want another to come next year), the match between Manchester City & Manchester United has been cancelled due to very poor playing conditions at the Bird's Nest stadium in Beijing.

The Champions Cup thing was a fun tournament when it first started and had a logical format (Two groups of 4, Semi Finals and a Final)
I know it wasn't exactly meant to be a prestigious tournament, but since its expansion I've lost all interest in it. It's just become a convoluted series of random friendlies played across the world now rather than an easy to follow tournament.

I know, you got there different regions with teams randomly playing against each other with multiple "championships" given out. I mean, you got teams playing in Melbourne playing independently from those in Beijing and then you see other clubs playing in the United States & Europe. If I wanted to have that, combine China & Australia into one segment where the winner from each country plays in a final friendly that rotates between Sydney and Shanghai annually.

I guess the first derby between United and City outside of England may have to wait till next year and it'll probably be held in the USA

Juventus got Gonzalo Higuain in a deal worth 90 million euros. Juve are far and away the biggest winners during this transfer window in Europe.

Good result for Celtic today as they drew 1-1 against Astana, picking up a crucial away goal in the process. What a couple of players they have in Leigh Griffiths and Patrick Roberts. It's going to be heartbreaking when Roberts goes back to Man City next season. The makeshift defence did its job well also. Hopefully Sviatchenko will be back from injury soon and Kolo Toure will provide some stability at the back.
Pretty sure Celtic can finish the job off against Astana at Parkhead and then move on to the Champions League play off.

Last years flopping Mike Havenaar has been replaced by HJK with a much, much better player in Alfredo Morelos. Even thought the team is also strengthened with Taye Taiwo, Medo, Anthony Annan and Nnamdi Oduamadi, Morelos is truly the one player that is showing in these Europe League qualifications. Today a goal and an assist against Göteborg to give the Finnish side the edge in this pairing.
No wonder that reportedly Everton were monitoring the colombian a year ago.

In all of my wildest dreams and imaginations, the very last thing I expected to see at a Bayern-Inter match live was a Julian Green hat trick.
Both club and country have waited for him to come good. I hope this is a sign of things to come.

Arsenal vs Chivas (Mexican team) They played the American national anthem... Happened all over Copa America. a you'd think they would have learned to avoid that kind of embarrassment from that.

I'll start up a new footy thread for the new season in the next couple of days. I'm not doing the "I have to start it..... It's my thread" thing. It's because I like to do the friendly reminder in the opening thread about not flaming and such (we have had some threads in the past that were getting a bit heated, so I decided to do it this way since then and it seems to have calmed down). If anyone wants to organise a Fantasy League then do it ASAP and I'll link it in the opening post (in the past, some leagues automatically started a new one but I don't know if that's the case anymore, besides, there might be newer posters who want in on it).
