What are some games that were good for their time, or you loved as a kid, that haven't aged well?

A lot of the game is still fine, but damn Mario 64's camera sticks out as outright counter-intuitive to the experience.

Grand Theft Auto III.
At the time, it was very revolutionary, but the haphazard world layout, the bad figures, poor firearm mechanics, & generic story involving a silent protagonist screwing over every single faction he works with has aged terribly.

Tried playing the original Metroid and could't get through it. No minimap, not being able to shoot diagonally, slow movement...just hasn't aged well at IMO.

The first Dragon Warrior (Dragon Quest?) game. Really didn't like all the menus popping up every time you wanted to do anything, the repetitive music, slow messages, ect. Not very fun any more.

The original Street Fighter II (World Warrior) is a rare example of a game seeming aged within its original lifespan. By the time Turbo, and later Super Turbo, came about, World Warrior felt like playing a great game at half speed.

Not very fun any more. slow messages, slow walking, hokey Ye Olde English text.... I don't think I could play this game again. A lot of older games I tend to mute when I play them again because it's so repetitive. Even my all-time fave dungeon crawler (Torneko the Last Hope) only has three different tracks for the dungeon I frequent. Wish I could actually "Move" a track they used for one specific dungeon to the one I frequent

Super Mario Land 1 for the Game Boy. The controls and the weird physics make the game a pain to play.

May as well just say every PS1/N64 game. At least graphically.

I remember I loved Dead To Rights back in 2003. I bought it months after I had rented it. Of course, it was only about four or five years later that I saw how repetitive the game really was.

Yeah, most N64/PS1/Dreamcast 3D games haven't aged well at all. Especially 3D platformers, aside from a few notable exceptions, and action games (aside from the first Metal Gear Solid which is, and always will be, amazing).

Resident Evil 4. I think the controls/aiming is horrendous compared to earlier and later games.
