Hockey player Connor McDavid was born during my sophomore year of college :-( Connor McDavid was 9 years old the last time the Edmonton Oilers were in the playoffs. The very team he's Captaining right now to a very likely playoff spot 11 years later. More then half of his life. Also I never seen The Edmonton Oilers in the playoffs once in my adult life. I'm 26.

I can tell you what it was like watching them win the Cup in 90. I wasn't even born the last time they won a cup. Yikes. I remember their Cup win in 90 was my "tell" during Show N' Tell in grade 1. I have very dim memories of them winning in 88 too. But I was really young then.

I was 16 when 9/11 happened. 16 year olds today only know living in a post-9/11 world.

I was alive before they discovered Legionnaire's Disease.
Chairman Mao, Fritz Lang, Elvis and Groucho Marx, Bing Crosby, Charlie Chaplin and the original Skynard line-up were all still alive when I was born.
When I was born, Tina and Ike were still married.
Elton John hadn't come out yet.
Ebola had yet to be identified.
There were less than 100 issues of X-men in existence
A regular Marvel comic cost 25 cents.
The Sex Pistols hadn't released a record yet.
Gas was 59 cents a gallon.
The Eagles' "Hotel California" and ABBA's "Dancing Queen" were still ditties in the songwriters' heads.
Space shuttles didn't exist.
The Band was still a band.
Neither cable station Showtime nor game show Family Feud existed.
Apple hadn't incorporated yet.
Disco was huge.

South Park is 20 years old.
And it's still on.
And for the most part still a damn good show.
I remember my mother pissing me off by saying I couldn't watch it.
Now I'm pissing my kids off by telling them they can't watch it.

One of my housemates didn't want to watch Die Hard because it came out in 1988 and is 'ancient'. I really wanted to punch him in the mouth. I'm not saying you should have......but I'm also not saying you shouldn't have, either.

the 1992 royal rumble was 25 years ago and I still remember watching it with my Granddad. We also went to Wembley that year for Summer Slam.
