I remember one show which was just a hacked up Nitro, the announcers reacted to a Flair run-in by saying "OH NO, it looks like a senile old man has wandered into the ring, he seems lost and confused!"
While where on the subject Channel 4's Sunday Night Heat was pretty shoot heavy, the announcing team was generally the Coach with either Michael Hayes, Kevin Kelly or Taz, it sounded like it was recorded drunk at 3 in the morning. Hayes spent about 3 weeks ripping on Regal for botching a slingshot in between threatening to get coach fired.

this hardly counts as 'agile' but I always though Viscera's rolling wheel kick was pretty swift for a morbidly obese man.

Bam Bam and Vader, both did moonsaults, Vader's looked like the scariest move you could ever take. Also quake had a pretty good drop kick for such a big dude. The headhunters did the odd suicide dive to the outside... not graceful people...

I've not watched much pre-1980's wrestling, what matches from the 60's and 70's still hold up today? I've seen the odd bit of All Japan stuff with Billy Robinson and Dory Funk that was really solid and of course Harley Race's NWA run. Never seen a Jack Brisco match but I hear he was one of the best of all time, what else from that era is worth checking out?

The early elimination of tazz in the 2001 rumble pissed me off when I saw it this, because it really showed how wwe had ruined the guy, in 2000 he'd come out to a huge pop, looked like a total badass and choked out Kurt Angle. One year later he's a short, fat, loser in a stupid outfit who gets slapped out of the ring in 3 seconds.

Other than the rumble and iron man matches what are the longest bell to bell matches wwe have ever presented? I think the obvious two are the HHH three stages of hell matches vs. Austin and HBK.
any others we can think of?
( the hardcore title 24/7 thing doesn't count.)

Well if the Kings are booked that would be a big plus... if they get Marufuji and/or KENTA I'm definitely there.

Broxbourne's not too far from London but wish they could have got a venue in the capital, I hope it's a proper show and not just a handful of Noah guys with a bunch of British indy workers stinking up the undercard. I think the last UK Noah show had the perfect balance of Japanese/ American indy/ a few really good British guys and it will be a hell of a task to match up to it. Also I think Dragon Gate did a show at the same venue last year, didn't hear any report on the quality of the night though.

All i remember about him was an interview with (i think) Tommy Dreamer in PWI who said the best rib he'd ever been part of was the night Paul E. told Rebel he would win a battle royal at the start of the show and then face Shane Douglas in the main event... battle royal starts, all the wrestlers involved gang up on Rebel and eliminate him first.

Damn. One of my all time favourite guys, always liked his stuff in ECW and M-Pro, a good worker and a really fun character. The Kaientai vs Naniwa/Hamada/Delfin/Tiger Mask IV/ Yakushiji is a great match as is his match with Liger where he played a really good babyface and put Liger over as a really dickish heel.
RIP

I've not seen many Candido matches, the only one that sticks out in my mind is vs. Sabu at (I think) November to remember '99, any other recommendations?

I'm doing a presentation on unsung heroes and I'm thinking of talking about wrestlers as (by and large) they are considered to be quite a sleazy bunch, so I'd like to celebrate some of the real life heroic acts performed by wrestlers. The main two that spring to mind are Jerry Lynn who was awarded a medal of valour after he save a kid from drowning and Bam Bam Bigelow who suffered burns saving a bunch of kids from a house fire (and obviously all the WWE make a wish stuff)
any others you can think of?

indie wrestling, in the late 90's the focus of most indies seemed to be on hardcore and spotfest matches, I think since ROH has become the prominent indie promotion there has been a lot more emphasis on athletic guys who can have a good strait match and tell a story rather than fat guys smashing light tubes into each other's faces (ie- most of ECW's undercard workers).

not seen many but I really liked Mike Awesome's and Rick Martel's, mainly because both just came across as really nice blokes who weren't particularly bitter about their careers and just seemed pleased that people were interested to hear their stories.

there was a good UK tag team a few years back called team sexy, they weren't gay but they really played up the camp relationship they had, they worked really well against serious face teams. Plus it's always funny to see two ugly blokes in ill fitting trunks who think they look sexy.
Quick tip, if you want to google them it's probably a good idea to keep safe search on.

Also, I've never been a fan of the Russian leg sweep because it seemed like if would hurt both guys, the only good version was a luchador, I think it was Octagon, who would go from a leg sweep into an octopus submission hold.

standing shooting star press, just a pointless flippy-flippy move that is essentially a big splash for cruiser weights and looks like it has zero impact. Tyler Black used it this week on ROH and missed so bad it ended up as a shooting star forearm drop.
Also the twist of fate, the x-factor and whatever that thing is edge does where he grabs someone's chin from behind and jumps backwards.
I think the worm worked fine for Scotty's character, it just hindered him having it as a finisher when it would have worked better as a mid match comedy spot, the same thing happened to Rikishi, he turned heel but was still doing the stinkface when he was supposed to be a killer bad guy.
