PWinsider.com The internal WWE reaction to Hulk Hogan signing with TNA was that it was a major mistake on TNA's part and that Hogan and Eric Bischoff would be out for themselves, not the promotion. There was no major sense of shock among those backstage at the Smackdown taping when the news came out. We'll see if that turns out to be the case. Either PWI just wants to put the internet's minds at ease and let them know it's a general consensus everywhere, or this is legitimately WWE's feelings on the event. Either way, it wouldn't surprise me if it really was the latter.

I seem to recall the Smackdown before the 2001 Royal Rumble, Rock was laying into Chris Jericho pretty thickly before Jericho responded with "NO NO NO NO NO! I will be respected, you sancitmonious sunnuvaBITCH!"

I laughed pretty hard at that too, won't lie. For some reason I'd mark for them as an abusive relationship tag team. Smackdown Batista calls Rey to the ing, apologizing, saying he lost his temper, Rey forgives him, then later they lose a tag match and Batista beats up Rey again. Rinse and repeat. Wouldn't that basically be stealing Legacy's gimmick, except Rey wears pants? Given he wears a mask and leather, somehow I imagine Rey would enjoy the abuse. ...I'll see myself out now.

This wasn't about the match at all. What really happened is Batista brought his n64 on the road with him, and he, Taker, Punk, and Mysterio played a 30 man Royal Rumble backstage before the PPV. When they were down to the last 4 guys, Batista eliminated Mysterio. Then when he was about to eliminate CM Punk for the win, Mysterio pulled Batistas character out and gave Punk the win. That sore loser! To hell with Rey! Thats why the crowd cheered. Your theory, sir, doesn't hold water. WWE Superstars can't play video games backstage anymore, remember? ;D

I think he was saying " I beg you, I beg you..." I had to rewatch it because at first I thought he said, "I'll pay you, I'll pay you". He was saying "I'll pay you, I'll pay you." Rey borrowed money from Batista for the new Smackdown 10th Anniversary DVD, and never paid him back. That's what Batista was referring to when he said he stabbed him in the back. I think I heard him say "Big Dave, no!" at some point during the recap. Puts a whole new spin on their relationship, I tells ya.

I saw the commercial recap of the World title match on ECW, and when I heard this, I just LAUGHED.
Seriously, how have I NOT seen a Photoshop thread or something for this one? It's just awesome.
At the same time, does anyone have the segment on hand?

Well, all it means is that we won't be seeing that wrestling dress she was in earlier this year anymore.

She smiles way to damn much. Even when the situation doesn't call for it, she just keeps on smiling.
What we need now is an 8-bit "Beat It" to play and send Randy Savage at her for corpsing.

The MEM is turning Face, fans love Steiner, Nash, Angle, and Joe. Nash and Angle both have beef with the World Elite, Joe is going for the belt, and Steiner is going after Lashley who the Mafia isn't a fan of. I think with hogan coming in, he'll lead the Mafia, take out World Elite, then I don't know. Dungeon of Doom REUNION! Dude, I'm pretty sure that the Mafia's broken up now.

Problem is, if we end the brand split and unify the titles, it'll mean the end of several pushes that are going on, not to mention just make more dominance over the ME scene while Triple H and John Cena are around. Plus, if the shows were merged back to just being all under WWE and not any sub-brands, they'd probably have to release a good chunk of the roster just so they don't have to worry about attempting to book them over the bigger feuds they want to make.
Also, while it may have worked in 1999, keep in mind nobody at the time really had a strangle hold on the title until Triple H became a main eventer, and even then the belt had changed hands a record-breaking 11 times. But Triple H was just new to the main event scene, unlike now where he nearly rules with an iron fist.
If the World titles unify, I just don't think we'd see any of the Smackdown guys (except Batista) getting numerous title shots. They'd prolly go back to the uppermidcard or win the IC title numerous times over.

This is a bit ironic, given I purchased an XBox not to long ago and got my uncle's NES just prior to that. Also...what kind of a video game system is Michelle trying to advertise there?

Well...TNA is the number one topic on Twitter so its gotten them what they want: mainstream attention. WCW got attention too when David Arquette won the WCW title. Just saying.

...wasn't Enron made out to be a scam in the first place? at least that's what I've gathered, so...that metaphor doesn't exactly hold up. Well, use any failed company in its place then. Same thing. Blaming something trivial for the demise of a company when the root reason is something entirely different is nonsensical. Well, you can at least blame Russo and company for turning the product into an unwatchable disaster, I'll say that much.

To the people who keep referencing WCW, do you know how business actually works? WCW was making huge losses. Meaning they were spending more than they were bringing in. You don't need to be an accountant to know that. Secondly, WCW eventually lost backing due to AOL Time Warner so they were pretty much effectively going to lose their primetime TV slot. For TNA to become WCW they would have to lose Spike TV and start generating tens of millions in red. Anyone who thinks signing Hogan, even if he does "run through the young talent", will lead to TNA's demise is smoking something a little too powerful for normal humans to be using. I can't believe people still believe the failure to push young talent was the reason WCW folded. I guess somewhere in the world someone is blaming Enron's demise on their failure to utilize their mail room clerks. ...wasn't Enron made out to be a scam in the first place? at least that's what I've gathered, so...that metaphor doesn't exactly hold up.

I don't get Steiner's hype anyway, so eh to that. The problem HERE, however, is that now a good chunk of the cause of WCW's death is on board: Not just Russo or Ferrera, but also Bischoff and Hogan with his ego on board as well. And now that I'm thinking about it, there's a small chance someone will be stupid enough to give Nash booking rights too. What's been said in this thread repeatedly in one form or another? "Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it"? If Carter hasn't learned that, and if Russo's stories end up being the same, who's to say Hogan's ways have changed? The difference is, in those 8 years, you've had changes in most of the parties. Russo isn't the same guy who was around in WCW, and Hogan's not the same active wrestler he was back then either. And even though those people have gone through some changes in their lives, they still seem to live life the same as it was. Russo's writing is still the same as it was in the late 90's, and something tells me Hogan's ego hasn't dropped in size at all.

God, I take a nap for a few hours, and this happens? Nice to know people are calling the death of TNA. I remember that happening on mass with Scott Steiner joined, so I guess that means Hogan's gonna be the next promo god around here soon. I don't get Steiner's hype anyway, so eh to that. The problem HERE, however, is that now a good chunk of the cause of WCW's death is on board: Not just Russo or Ferrera, but also Bischoff and Hogan with his ego on board as well. cant people wait and see if he burys people, maybe hes changed, "Hogan" and "change" don't go together, and part of the fact of Dennis Rodman being the first Celebrity Championship Wrestling champion (while being good buddies with Hogan from WCW) just helps dissolve your thinking even further.

I side more with brettappedout on this. Short term this gives them buzz, gets attention, probably spike a 1.4 or so breaking their record. But if Hogan is around long enough, why are any of us supposed to think he isn't going to get that itch? What in his past would make you think he wouldn't one day go "you know, it might be fun and profitable if I..." and we're off to the races. I can already see him wanting to drop the old leg on the big stinky Samoan Submission Machine down the line, brother. And this is why I'm already against Hogan coming in.

I'm sorry, but I'm not very optimistic about this, unless Hogan's a manager for an up and comer or is just an on-air non-wrestling talent. I don't want to see Hogan become a champion again, I don't want to see Joe or Styles or hell, even LASHLEY lose a match to this man, with how well TNA's built that small bit of talent up.
Also...I just can't help but feel this is a major piece of gloom and doom. History's shown that when the four men (Russo, Ferrera, Bischoff, Hogan) get together, NOTHING good can come of it. I'm personally believing Ms. Carter has NO idea about wrestling's history.
Please prove me wrong, TNA, and keep Hogan FAR away from his wrestling boots as possible.
