The WWE Title * Triple H had the title. Lost it to Edge @ Survivor Series on November 23. * Jeff Hardy won the Title in a Triple Threat at Armageddon on December 14. * Edge won the title back in a No DQ Match at Royal Rumble on January 25. * Triple H won the title back in the Elim Chamber at No Way Out on February 15. * Randy Orton won a Six Man Tag where the title was on the line at Backlash on April 26. * Batista won the title in a Steel Cage Match at Extreme Rules on June 7. * The title was officially vacated 2 days later on June 9 due to injury. * Randy Orton won the title again in a Four Way Match on Raw on June 15. * John Cena won the title in an I Quit Match at Breaking Point on September 13. * Randy Orton won the title back in a Hell in a Cell match on the Hell in a Cell PPV on October 4. * John Cena won the title back again in an Ironman Match at Bragging Rights on October 25. That's eleven title reigns in 365 days. To put that into just a little bit of perspective, it took 9,048 days (24 years, 282 days) to get to the eleventh title reign in the entire history of that same belt (Andre the Giant, for you fellow trivia geeks). How about the World Heavyweight Title? Its October 26, and since there was a title change on Oct 26 last year, ill start from there. * Batista won the title from Chris Jericho at Cyber Sunday on October 26. * Chris Jericho won the title back at Raw on November 3. * John Cena won the title at Survivor Series on November 23. * Edge won the title in the Elimination Chamber at No Way Out on February 15. * John Cena won the title back in a Triple Threat Match at WrestleMania 25 on April 5. * Edge won the title back in a Last Man Standing Match at Backlash on April 26. * Jeff Hardy won the title in a Ladder Match at Extreme Rules on June 7. * CM Punk cashed in to win the title after Hardy's win at Extreme Rules on June 7. * Jeff Hardy won the title back at Night of Champions on July 26. * CM Punk won the title back at SummerSlam in a TLC match on August 23. * The Undertaker won the title in a Hell in a Cell match at the Hell in a Cell PPV on October 4. Again, eleven reigns in one year. It took 1,226 days (three years, 130 days) to get to eleven total reigns for the current-era World Heavyweight Championship (from when Triple H was awarded the belt in 2002). Basically, if either belt changes hands between now and December 31st, both titles will have broken the 1999 record of most title changes for the main belts. I wonder if they were gunning for that.

Yanno, I was actually thinking about that song before I clicked the vid in the original post.
And I'm actually welcome to that song being used.

Honestly, I don't really think WWE would be THAT petty to block out smaller companies like ROH. Besides, all they'd be doing is just giving the fans that can't go to WM or Axxess a little taste of wrestling, and some exposure. Nothing that'd harm WWE.

Yep. I dunno what happened to him exactly, but it felt like somewhere along the ways Shelton just stopped getting better. He could still have a good match every now and then, but there's still something about his matches and promos that just sound out of place.

Allow me to introduce the Dilbert Principle: Here we are, 15 years after Scott Adams introduced the idea, in a world in which the internal promotion of idiots has expanded to their recruitment. The systemic infestation of idiots in corporate structures has resulted in their ability to make changes to policy based solely on their own imbecilic beliefs and observations, thus removing from the hierarchy of production those who have competency in the field. In other words...everything we assumed about Vince and the booking team is right on the ball?

I think its dumb as hell that they reject Desmond yet keep Taker, who has an even more snorked up body and runs the risk of injury constantly. Hilarious double standard. How long has Taker been wrestling for WWE? Nineteen years exactly next month.

I'm just under the belief that WWE's writers only think PG means kid-friendly, and go with that.
Truth is, I've seen cartoons with a 'G' rating, and they go pretty far with envelopin pushing as well (Deter's Laboratory's the one I'm thinking of), so WWE has no excuse to be ultra-non-violent.

» Regarding Melina's move to RAW, she is being rewarded for her recent work on SmackDown not to mention they felt "she was needed" on the brand. As far as her next program is concerned, Jillian has been given the nod to feud with her. She is expected to receive a big push as the brand's new top heel. Furthermore, Vince McMahon is said to be high on both girls these days. » Regarding Beth Phoenix' move to SmackDown as a result of the multi-brand Diva trade, the feeling was she needed a fresh start after losing momentum the past few months on RAW. There has also been talk of pairing "The Glamazon" with Dolph Ziggler. Source: www.twnpnews.com/messages2/24346.phpPersonally, not bad for either girls, but the problem for Beth is she's on the same brand as the girl that helped her LOSE that momentum.

She should branch out now while she's till under contract, so she won't end up with a dead post-WWE career like Torrie Wilson. True, it went well with Stacy for a while with Dancing with the Stars.

Aside from the "God spoke to Billy" promo, Billy just wasn't that great as a singles performer. You'll hear everyone talk about how great the Smoking Gunns were, the New Age Outlaws, and even Billy & Chuck. That's mostly because Billy was good to work off another person in another tag team. In singles, he didn't have that same factoring, and it hurt him big time.
Also, his TNA run was bad. Not only because of Voodoo Kin Mafia, but just because of the fact he was older, and didn't get the same rub there like he did from DX.

Correct. Hell only reason I do it is because some of the over-reactions are hilarious. flame baiting is fun and games until someone gets banned. And then we talked about the banned behind their backs. ;D But yes, if someone gets insulted by a Mickie James fat joke, then people are just going to keep it up until people stop complaining about it. BUT, the only people to continuously complain are the people that defend Mickie's case, and get riled up when people make fun of the weight. Lather, rinse, repeat. Just grab a box of popcorn and you're set for the thread.

I've been looking for years now for a clip from a show I went to in 2005. It was a live show, and Monsta Mack and Homicide were teaming against some guy I can't remember and another guy named Plasma. The clip was Plasma being thrown against the wall that my friend and I were sitting near, and the entire crowd chanting "OUCH OUCH OUCH!" while I just stared on in shock.
It used to be up on the JAPW website, but it looks like they since took down most of those matches. Does anyone know if the clip is in circulation somewhere?

Actually, Paul being where he is now isn't that bad. He's not anywhere near the ECW title, sure, but at least he's still capable of being a threat even after he loses. The thing that keeps Burchill from being a permanent jobber is that his matches don't last two minutes, and hold a good chunk of solid work.

Orton will win. Cena will move to Smackdown. The Royal Rumble will happen. The Road to Wrestlemania will begin. All of the big stars will be cross-promoted. They are moving Cena to try to pop ratings on Friday nights because they don't have to compete with pro or college football on Fridays. The PPV is 10/25. The Rumble is 1/31. The move is basically for 3 months, and then there will be 2.5 months of Mania cross-promotion. And then they'll do another draft and move him back for another year of Three's Company starring John Cena, Randy Orton and Triple H, with HBK playing the role of Don Knotts. The problem with that though is since MyNetworkTV doesn't even list or release it's ratings anymore, what good is said move? I mean... you have no idea if the move is helping or not other than outright guessing. Especially since that failed with Triple H last year, and MyNetwork's markets were cut back a good chunk this fall.

Jealousy? Maybe they're worried that a program focused on wrestling is doing better quality wise even though Raw has better ratings but is unbearable?
That's my theory.

It was the most I've cared about a women's title in years. Then Melina came out and ruined everything. Why does WWE insist on trying to make people like this woman? ...When did the internet start to hate on Melina? It seems like this entire thread is simply hating on Melina for...whatever reason. I thought both Melina and Jillian were LIKED in these parts, but...this thread seems to prove me wrong. Is it me? Or did everyone just turn on Melina just because she beat Jillian for the title in the fashion Hogan beat Yokozuna?

In my mind, Punk/Hardy was a feud of a different sort. Both men had never been in such a high position before, being two men who had held a title, but never got to carry a brand. Punk's feuds seem to come second to Cena's, and Jeff was hardly there for most of his first title reign.
What both men showed off was that they were capable of not just making a big case out of a man's personal decisions, but Punk was capable of making a slow heel transition and not just being an out of nowhere decision like the two weeks with New Blood. They showed that two men who had never been closing PPVs could end their matches with some flair. They also showed what it truly means to "cross the line", to be in the shades of grey area: That using substances and being straight edge are different choices different people make. It's only how you truly see the hero and the villain of a story that makes you choose the side.
