The Grateful Dead. I can't tell how all my friends ripped on me for liking that band. We were punks and I just somehow found the music enjoyable to listen to alongside Bad Religion and No FX.
I never understood the whole "It's not the music I'm into and I don't understand why they are successful" thing. I mean if someone like something more power to them and they artist they like.
I have to admit I have been guilty of the rap isn't music campaign. I think for me at least because the art of lyric rhyming by itself isn't music by definition, it's, well, rapping, That being said the music that accompanies it is. So, also by definition rap music is indeed music. Even if I don't listen to it and rarely hear a rap song I like.

AWA All Star Wrestling circa 78-79. My first house show was around '81.

So I saw this news report about two old timer Canadian Football League guys getting into a fight at an alumni dinner. I heard the name Angelo Mosca and thought it might be the old wrestler King Kong Mosca. Sure enough it was him. I never saw him in the old days of territories and local TV, but I always remembered reading about him in mags. Anyway for all you King Kong Mosca fans out there enjoy. latimesblogs.latimes.com/sports_blog/2011/11/angelo-mosca-and-joe-kapp-fight-at-cfl-benefit.htmlAs side note he had a son who wrestled as well.

Was this around for WM 1? I remember calling it for the results. I was done with wrestling at WM3 and I watched 2 and 3 so it had to have been WM 1.
Anyway, waste of two bucks.

Very few disco songs get me moving on the dance floor. Celebration and a few others maybe. I'm more funk and R&B. I'll take James Brown over disco any day.

Rocking band, and Huey seems like the nicest guy. I saw them a few years ago at a state fair, it was awesome.

I remember my first AWA program from a show at the Coliseum circa 1980-81 and it had a picture of "Dizzy" Ed Boulder. They blurred the picture a bit I guess to make him look dizzy and more menacing. I never heard of him before. Hulk also made the program and that night was in a tag match with Jim Brunzell against the Black and Blue Express Patera and Duncum.
I never saw Brutus wrestle or be interviewed so I don't know how long he lasted. But that image of that picture lasted in my head for years. I also never made the connection that he was Brutus Beefcake.

Double side note: We have a woman from outside of Manchester staying with us. The first name I threw out was Big Daddy. She asked "Is he a wrestler?" and then knew of him.
Andre? Natch. Hogan? Sure. The Rock? No. Didn't ask about George.

I agree GOAT lists tend to be specific to eras and locales, abilities and recognition.
Most famous in the world of popular culture might be more appropriate for placing guys like Andre and Hogan.
That being said I come from the late 70's era and when Andre came in to town it meant two things 1) there is going to be a battle royal worth 10-20 thousand dollars.
2) Some big name heel or tag team was going to get their asses kicked. (He didn't normally do 2 on 1 with names, at least I've only seen him do that in jobber squash matches)
So my list reads something like this.
Andre Hogan Gorgeous George (I knew the guy before I knew what wrestling was) Rock
I think the rest fall into second place or honorable mention.
Side note I asked my wife (serious non wrestling fan) a bunch of names off the HOF list. She didn't know Dwayne Johnson but knew who the Rock was, she knew Andre, Hogan, and thought George was a Bugs Bunny's character in the old wrestling cartoon but that was it. She didn't know Macho or Piper, she didn't even know Capt. Lou.
