Sometimes it's still surreal that in 2015 the best thing in wrestling is Paul E. Dangerously.

I say it every time I see him - but damn Heyman is amazing. I hope they never break up he and Brock.

This Summerslam is enough to get both Stephen Amell and Green Lantern Jon Stewart into the celebrity wing, right?

Dolph is a fantastic heel. I genuinely want Rusev to beat the crap out of him.

I missed the first hour - is there a main event tonight or is it going to be a Taker promo?

Does anybody find Cena winning the championship 15 times impressive? Not in a world where Alberto Del Rio is like a six time champion and Sheamus is, what 11 time? I think Hornswoggle might have a couple reigns.

Could've been and should've been Shane McMahon Funny, I just came in to post that. I don't remember all of the storyline (I was a WCW guy suffering through Nitro mostly at the time) but weren't he and Vince on the outs? Plus Shane would have access to Steph's teddy bear the personal stuff that the Ministry was using to go after Vince.

Any face turn that happened because a heel stable turned on one of its members. The dude is still a heel, he just isn't friends with the other heels anymore. That doesn't make him a face. I can't remember the exact details, but Hacksaw Duggan turning face in WCW was a great/awful example of that. Team Canada was in a match and Duggan teased hitting them with his two by four but stayed heel and helped attack their opponents. Then Team Canada beat him up and kicked him out anyway. That turned him face.

Bret was under contract with WCW until the end of 2000 and that period was probably the high point of hatred between Bret and Vince so I can't see any truth to that rumor. In Bret's book he said that after the funeral Vince requested a meeting with him. They sat on a park bench and talked for a bit. At one point Vince told him that he wanted him to come back and he was ready to put the belt on him and make him the top guy again. Bret obviously wasn't ready to move on from Montreal, and Owen's passing had doubtless sucked away so much of his enthusiasm for wrestling. But I guess it shows he was at least willing to talk to Vince. And if he was dissatisfied with WCW, I don't see why he wouldn't at least briefly consider the possibility of jumping ship. But obviously it never happened. Isn't that the meeting where Bret said Vince promised him access to his photos and video, then when Bret called to arrange it Vince denied it?

I've heard people say it should have been Kevin Sullivan. That would have been cool for long time fans or those familiar with his history in Florida. But I think most WWE fans at the time would have let out a collective "Who?"
It should have been a way to introduce the greatest heel in wrestling history to TV months before if actually happened - New York's own Vince Russo!

I remember reading somewhere that it was actually intended to be Bret Hart. Vince and Bret had actually started talking again after Owen's tragic passing, and Vince had tried to persuade Bret to come back, but I guess Bret had just lost his enthusiasm for the biz at that point. Bret was under contract with WCW until the end of 2000 and that period was probably the high point of hatred between Bret and Vince so I can't see any truth to that rumor.

As for the backlog, just finished the December 6th Raw, which was the final Raw with Bobby Heenan. A dark day in the history of our great sport.

That finish would have worked if Patrick had actually made the fast count. Even if Patrick hadn't done whatever the hell, they still were getting way too cute for their own good. Nobody asked for Montreal to be revisited. Even when WCW was putting on their most hyped match ever, it was all about flipping the bird to Vince and playing with his old toys, and entertaining the WCW fans who bought PPVs and attended shows was secondary to that goal. Yeah. Bret is my favorite wrestler ever and he shouldn have been brought in so much better based on how hot he was, but he had no business being involved with that match between Sting and Hogan. You described what happened perfectly. If you have to have the ref fast count you still have Sting kick out. In no way should they have given fans a visual of Sting being pinned under any circumstances. You have Patrick try to fast count Sting and Sting still kicks out. You have Patrick slow count Hogan until Sting had beaten him so badly he can't kick out and Patrick has no choice but to hit the mat that third time. Sting then scorpion death locks Patrick and takes the damn belt.

I always heard the "Wasn't a draw" wasn't the case, but rather it was Flair and Hogan's chemistry being off for whatever reason, namely the clash of styles as well as Flair's severe inner-ear problems being at their worst when Hogan-Flair was run. The ear injury didn't occur until later in 1992 after a match with Warrior.

Randy Orton in 2004. His character didn't change any, he just got jumped by other bad guys. Replace the year with "2010" and replace the last part with "attacked by people he abused for half a year in Legacy" and you can pretty much keep this statement the same. Isn't that how he turned face this year, just with the Authority beating him up?

Flair v Hogan was announced though, they even did that press conference bit. But Hogan did leave to pursue a film career after WM8, they even did a one on one interview between Hulk and Vince on Prime Time alluding to Hulks last match being against Sid. That press conference was bogus!

Slightly off topic, but looking back, it's weird how Vince has such a history of resisting anything from outside his company, yet Flair and Sid were in the co-main events of Mania after being in WCW a year prior.
